The Power of Self-Belief (in Weight Loss & in LIFE)

Hello, my Amazing Nurses!! SO many times in my life, I had a doubt about my ability to accomplish a goal… Whether it was running a 30-mile Spartan Race, eating on-plan for at least 6 days in a row, or losing the last 5 lbs, I definitely had my fair share of doubts.

So the question becomes: Why do we doubt ourselves?

We know exactly what we want to accomplish. We set our goals. We make plans to take action. And then, when it comes time to do the thing, WE DON’T DO IT. For example, I would ALWAYS get tripped up on eating too many almonds. I would set it in my plan the night before to eat a SPECIFIC amount of almonds. But when it came down to the date/time that I scheduled for myself to eat them, I would sometimes have more than I planned.

Then, my amazingly logical and justified brain would tell me, “Well, you already ate more than you said you would. Might as well eat more since you already screwed up today.”

And then I would give myself that free pass to nosh on more almonds, because I didn’t believe in myself enough to stay on track anymore. I’ve given up. Our doubt sets in, and we tell ourselves that it’s “okay” to stop following our plan “because we didn’t follow it anyway, so what’s the point?”

That’s literally the biggest lie you can ever tell yourself.

Whatever is possible for you is IN THE FUTURE. It’s yet to be seen. The goals that you’re about to achieve for yourself are COMPLETELY available to you at all times. It’s just a matter of what kind of life you WANT for yourself, and what you believe is TRUE about yourself.

So here’s a great way to assess what your current beliefs are about yourself:

  1. What are your impossible goals/dreams?

  2. Do you think that you have what it takes to actually accomplish those goals/dreams?

  3. If yes, why? If not, why?

If you said NO to Question #2, that is so important to be aware of. Ask yourself WHY you don’t think you have what it takes. And keep asking why until you unearth that underlying core belief about yourself that is literally blocking you from the best life you could ever imagine for yourself.

Once you manifest that thought to yourself, take a moment to decide.

How do you want to live your life? (Because it IS your choice.)

How do you want to show up in the world?

What living message do you want to give to the world by YOUR STORY and YOUR EXAMPLE?

Whatever it is you decide, know that it is your choice, and that at any moment you can decide to live the life of your dreams, or you can decide to continue living in your current situation & current reality.

Choose wisely.
